The everydayhero Milton Keynes Half Marathon is ready to burst on to the city’s streets on Monday 4th May 2015 when thousands of runners pull on their trainers.

Ran alongside the everydayhero Milton Keynes Marathon, the half marathon is in its second year and once again is on course to raise thousands of pounds for charities and good causes. Whilst every participant will benefit from fantastic crowd support around the course, for which Milton Keynes is now becoming famous.

The race starts at 10am at StadiumMK and shares the same tree lined city boulevards, superb stadium finish and great medal as the full marathon event. The remaining places for the full marathon and half marathon are selling fast with thousands of runners already registered for both events.

Children will also have the opportunity to be involved in one of Milton Keynes’ premier sporting events by signing up to the Superhero Fun Run, sponsored by Acorn Childcare. The Superhero Fun Run course covers a distance of approximately 1.5 miles and is on traffic-free closed roads. The children share the same stadium finish as the marathon and half marathon finishers and every child crossing the finishing line will receive a goody bag and medal. The Superhero Fun Run starts at 10:30am and superhero costume is essential.

Groups of colleagues and friends are also getting together to take part in the Geoffrey Leaver Marathon Relay. Each team has four members each running just over six miles, getting all the glory of running of the marathon distance without the pain. The last runner will finish inside StadiumMK.

Entry to the Geoffrey Leaver Marathon Relay includes VIP Parking, Stadium VIP Area with private bar plus medal and goody bag for each runner. The relay event is open to businesses, charities, clubs or even groups of friends and is characterised by a strong element of friendly competition as teams compete to be the fittest and the fastest.

Andy Hully, Event Director, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s races and Superhero Fun Run. The Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay showcase why Milton Keynes is such a great place to live, work and play. The events always have a great atmosphere and we’re hoping this year will be the best yet.”

A small army of volunteers is needed to make the everydayhero Milton Keynes Marathon happen and ensure the runners have a fantastic time.

“Our volunteer event crew do a fantastic job of making sure the races run smoothly, we couldn’t do it without them. We’re currently looking to recruit more people to our volunteer event team,” added Mr Hully.

Volunteers just need lots of enthusiasm, to enjoy working as part of a team and to want to ensure a great experience for the thousands of runners. Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles including route marshals, baggage store marshals and start/finish area teams.

All volunteers will receive a packed lunch as well as an Event Crew T-shirt to wear on the day. They will also receive a medal at the end of the day plus an invite to the exclusive Event Crew Party, which will be held on Saturday 9th May.
