MK Marathon attracts sponsorship from MK’s household name brands!

Organisers delighted with sponsorship deals for 2019

In an incredible deal, the MK Marathon has attracted Rightmove – the UK’s largest and best-known property portal – as its major sponsor for 2019. The upcoming Bank Holiday event has been titled the Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend 2019 in the national property giant’s honour. Based in Caldecotte, Rightmove is the number-one way for people in the UK to begin a property search.

The 2019 Rightmove MK Marathon is the eighth in the award-winning event’s history … and this year is set to be the biggest and best one yet, with over 12,000 people running in its five races on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May.

Organisers are working on making the Rightmove MK Marathon one of the UK’s largest and most popular marathons, attracting athletes from across the globe to our city.

In a further reflection of the scale of the event, the Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend 2019 has also secured telecommunications company Vodafone as a general sponsor, as well as BMI The Saxon Clinic in Coffee Hall as the Marathon Relay sponsor and Wymbush-based baker Brioche Pasquier as the Superhero Fun Run sponsor. Other sponsors include local company Murrays the Printers, sports nutrition manufacturer HIGH5, retailer Up & Running, DW Fitness and Results Base who have provided the event race timing for the last seven years.

Race Director and Founder Andy Hully said: “It is no mean feat for the Rightmove MK Marathon team to have secured such a big name as the event’s headline sponsor. We are very grateful to them, and to our other sponsors, for their interest – we are proud to be working with them all!”

Jason Charles, Events Manager at Rightmove, said: “We are really proud to call Milton Keynes our home and as such we are really excited to be supporting the Rightmove MK Marathon. We are planning a huge line up of entertainment for all the family in the Rightmove race village; we hope to see you there on May 6th!”

Local media partners include BBC Three Counties Radio and MK Citizen, but the prestigious event will be covered across national TV channels and newspapers, demonstrating that the Rightmove MK Marathon really has made its mark on the running events calendar.

Last year, the MK Marathon won six awards including two from Women’s Running, two from the Racecheck Awards, and another from the British Association of Runners.

Natalie Wallace, Marketing Officer from sponsor BMI Saxon, added: “This is a great opportunity and we are really pleased to be able to continue to work with the Rightmove MK Marathon team.”

Melissa Charron, Marketing from Brioche Pasquier, added: “We are proud to sponsor the Rightmove MK Marathon for the third year running, to support the community and share our values of heritage, tradition and family moments. We also want to help spread the message of the importance of an active lifestyle. We will be there on Monday 6th May. Come along with the whole family to enjoy our products and the playground area for the little ones – plus one of the 12,000 Brioche rolls being given away!”

This year’s Rightmove MK Marathon will start and finish at Stadium MK, with the route passing spectacular sites including Willen Lake, the historic Linford Manor, and Bradwell Windmill. The event has become so big that it will even have its own live concert in the Rightmove Race Village, as well as plenty of family activities.

Runners are being asked to post photos of their training runs on social media, using #MyMarathonMoments to document the sights and scenery they come across when out clocking up the miles. All entries will be entered into a competition, with the best photos winning a prize.
