2020 MK Marathon Weekend Date Confirmed
It has been a very tough week for the MK Marathon Team, however, we are delighted to announce that the 2020 Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend date has been confirmed as 5-6 September. We have worked tirelessly exploring all options, but in the end, this was the only weekend that we could secure.
It is now full steam ahead to put on another great weekend of running in September and hope that you will all join us on the start line!
We also have some other positive news to share. The MK Marathon Weekend has won the prestigious Bill Reynolds Trophy by the British Association of Road Races (BARR), for being the most improved UK Race in 2019!
Rest assured that we want to give you as many options as possible going forward…
Option 1
Take part in September
If you can make the new dates, then no action is required on your part as your original booking has been moved over for you. We will be sending out the revised booking confirmation emails from Monday 23 March.
Option 2
Free Deferral to 2021
The provisional date is 2-3 May 2021, however, it is subject to change. The date will be confirmed on 1 July after the new football fixtures have been announced.
You can defer to the 2021 provisional date for free from your Active account here and select ‘Change Event’. You must do so by midnight on 31st March.
Option 3
Donate your place to charity
Our charity partners will suffer due to a lack of fundraising as a result of this postponement, so we are giving you the opportunity to donate your place to one of our charity partners. By donating your place, our charities can then find additional runners to raise funds.
You can donate your place by completing this short form here. You must do so by midnight on 31st March.
Option 4
Transfer your place to another runner
You can transfer your place free of charge to another runner here by selecting ‘Transfer Registration’ or change your distance here by selecting ‘Change Category’. This can be done any time up until 31 July at midnight.
Option 5
Why not complete a Virtual Race?
This applies to all events except the relay.
Step 1 – Complete your virtual run distance on your own course, at your own pace, anytime between 5th May and 5th June. This can be at home on a treadmill if you wish.
Step 2 – Take a screenshot or photo of your Garmin, Strava or any other tracking app or device.
Step 3 – Go to Active here and sign in using the email address and password you registered with. Click ‘Upload Now’ to submit your image. The file must be in pdf, jpg or png format and less than 1mb in size.
Step 4 – We will then post your medal (and t-shirt for the 10k/half/marathon) to the address given on your original registration. If you need to change this address, you can also do this on Active under ‘Edit Registration’. Please change any details BEFORE you submit your evidence. We will post your goodies in early July.
Option 6
As a last resort claim a refund
Your decision to take part in September will make a huge difference to the future existence of our event, and the impact it has on the local community so we hope the above options are acceptable to you.
As you know, we have a no refund policy that you agreed to during the registration process, however, these are exceptional circumstances. We really do hope that you will do everything possible to join us in September, or even 2021, but if this simply isn’t possible then you can claim a full refund.
You can claim a refund by completing a short form here. You must do so by midnight on 31 March. This will be a manual process for us so please allow some time for this to happen.
The running community is special and at times like this, we take comfort in knowing we’re a part of that community.

Rightmove MK Marathon Team
16th March 2020
In light of the latest Government advice surrounding the impact of the coronavirus COVID-19 on public health, we have made the extremely tough decision to postpone the Rightmove MK Marathon, which was due to take place on 2-3 May.
We recognise the countless hours that our participants put into training for our event. We have poured our hearts into planning for the event. We’re proud of the impact on our local community and beyond. From our charity partners to our sponsors, vendors, contractors, and volunteers, we understand the impact our event has, and the consequences that postponing it will cause. However difficult, this decision must be taken in the best interest of runners, spectators, volunteers, and event staff.
The MK Marathon team has been working with the MK Council, medical experts, The Parks Trust, StadiumMK and other key stakeholders to secure an alternative date for the delayed event, which is expected to be on 5-6 September 2020.
We are now faced with the massive challenge of working through the new details and will convey these to you as soon as possible. During this time, we are unable to respond to individual emails or enquiries.
We understand and share your disappointment with this outcome.

The Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend team continues to monitor the developments relating to COVID-19. We continue to stay in constant contact with the local health authorities regarding the virus.
The Rightmove MK Marathon Weekend team is committed to open communication with our participants, volunteers, partners, and the entire Milton Keynes and running communities. We will update the status of our event as often as possible. Our number one priority is to put on a safe event.
