On Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2015, the everydayhero Milton Keynes Marathon & Half Marathon returns to Milton Keynes for the fourth year and organisers are hoping for the best year to date.
Registrations are still open for the event, voted in 2014 as one of the UK’s top marathon races by readers of Runner’s World magazine and website on account of its organisation, atmosphere, beginner friendliness and scenery. It has also been awarded the British Association of Road Runners (BARR) Bronze Award for the standard of race organisation and commitment to runners. Registration closes on 24th April so there’s still a month to get signed up and get training.
With options of a marathon, half marathon, Superhero fun run and the Geoffrey Leaver Marathon Relay to choose from, there will be a run to suit all abilities and ages.
“We pride ourselves on having the highest standards and the best route through Milton Keynes”, says Race Director, Andy Hully. “The race route remains a traffic-free, largely tree-lined and fast single lap taking in scenery such as Willen Lake and with an impressive finish at Stadium MK, home to the MK Dons.”
For those who want to run in support of their favourite charities, they will benefit from this year’s headline sponsor, everydayhero. Once signed up, event participants will be invited to build and customise their own personal fundraising page, which can be shared with friends, family and colleagues.
John Bird of everydayhero comments “Fun runs and marathons remain amongst the most popular types of fundraising events in the UK. We want to make sure that people who choose to take part can record not only the amount of money they raise but every effort they make on behalf of that charity. That includes the time spent training, so through an integration with the MapMyFitness fitness app, event fundraisers can also see the kilometres run, hours given and calories burned on behalf of their chosen charity.”
