Milton Keynes hosted a spectacular running celebration this weekend as the MK Marathon Weekend returned with its biggest and most successful event to date, welcoming a record 11,000 participants across the marathon, marathon relay, half-marathon, Rocket 5K, and Superhero Fun Run.

The event showcased not only the scale and spirit of the running community but also outstanding athletic performances, with multiple course records set across the weekend.

In the Rocket 5K, Jamie Prior delivered a sensational run, breaking the 15-minute barrier to set a new course record of 14:57. The half-marathon also saw a new benchmark established, with Lee Stopford storming to victory in 1:08:16.

The marathon event produced exceptional performances at the front of the field, with both the men’s and women’s course records falling. Mohammed Elbayan claimed victory in a remarkable 2:25:36, while Gemma Carter set a new women’s course record with an outstanding time of 2:51:32.

Runners were treated to the MK Marathon’s renowned scenic route, taking in the unique character of Milton Keynes, including its picturesque villages and the iconic Open University campus, providing a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.

Behind the scenes, the event’s success was powered by an incredible team effort, with over 500 volunteers and more than 100 stewards working tirelessly to deliver a safe, welcoming, and inspiring event. Their dedication played a crucial role in showcasing the very best of Milton Keynes.
