Race organisers of the everydayhero Milton Keynes Marathon and Half Marathon are delighted to be able to add a brand new event to the city’s running calendar: the MK Rocket 5K.
The organisers are confident that the MK Rocket 5k will live up to its name with a fast downhill 5K event on closed roads between Centre Milton Keynes (CMK) and StadiumMK.
Andy Hully, Event Director, said: “I am enormously pleased to be able to bring this new 5K race to Milton Keynes, which has a proud running tradition. 5K races are the perfect distance for beginners targeting a first race, but the MK Rocket 5K will also be equally satisfying for those with an inner speed demon.”
The MK Rocket 5k course has something for everyone. Seasoned runners can take advantage of the downhill fast route to achieve a new personal best whilst new runners can embrace the atmosphere to achieve their own goal, whether that’s just getting round or supporting a good cause.
As a bonus, runners who complete both the MK Rocket 5k on Sunday and either the marathon, half marathon, or relay on Monday will receive even more bling! They’ll be walking way with the MK Challenge Medal, which features a cow, one of Milton Keynes’ famous icons, and a ribbon highlighting their two days of running.
“Milton Keynes is a great place for sport, and the route promises to be fast as it’s held on open roads between the Centre Milton Keynes and StadiumMK, and those that complete two events in two days get a third medal to honour their achievement. I look forward to seeing thousands of people running through Milton Keynes in May,” added Mr. Hully.
Race organisers are now accepting entries for the MK Rocket 5k, which takes place on Sunday 1st May 2016, the day before the MK Marathon. The MK Rocket 5k might only happen once, and entries are filling fast, so come along to get your personal best on a downhill route with a great atmosphere.
