Local running group, the Ampthill and Flitwick Flyers (AFF), is gearing up for the Bank Holiday weekend, when over 40 of their runners will take part in the Rightmove MK Rocket 5k, Rightmove MK Marathon and the Rightmove MK Half Marathon. Plus, for one of their runners, Rebecca Fleckney, this year’s Rightmove MK Marathon will mark her 100th marathon, which the team will of course be celebrating on the day.

The small, friendly club, based at Flitwick Football Centre, is just 14 miles from Milton Keynes and has around 300 members. Its runners range from total beginners to elite distance runners on roads and cross-country, as well as duathlon, biathlon and triathlon athletes.

Mark Billington, AFF’s Chairman, said: “Our club has been taking part in the MK Marathon for several years – it’s so close to home and we like to support local events. This year, the Rocket 5K is our club championship race so naturally, lots of our members take part in this particular race. We have been helping our runners to prepare for the Rightmove MK Rocket 5k, Rightmove MK Marathon and the Rightmove MK Half Marathon and we wish them all the best on the day, along with all the other people running the races! We know it will be a great weekend.”

AFF – which is the club behind successful local events such as the Flitwick 10k road race, Marston Forest 5k and Ampthill Trophy – celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.
